Abstract

1324855 Casting composite articles AKRON STANDARD MOLD CO & ZANGL REIFENFORMENBAU GmbH 4 Aug 1970 [5 Aug 1969] 37615/70 Heading B3F A mould for a vehicle tyre is made by mating a mould blank 40 with a die 20 so as to define therebetween recesses 16 which correspond to the shape of ribs 3 to be cast on to the mould blank 40, and introducing metal into the recesses. The mould blank is made of steel, the die 20 of sand or ceramic material to enable it to be broken down after casting is finished, and the metal forming the ribs is preferably aluminium or an alloy thereof. The metal is introduced to the said recesses through ducts 65 in the die 20. Dove-tailed recesses 15 are provided in the mould blank 40 to assist in anchoring the cast metal to the blank.
