Abstract
PURPOSE: To purify sewage, from which impurities such as dists are removed, with high efficiency in a small installation area, by aerating the sewage while circulating the sewage into an aeration vessel vertically suspending a plurality of spongy active sludge beds.
CONSTITUTION: Combined sewage is centrifugally separated by an impurity-removing separator 5 involving large and small meshes, to produce dewatered impurities from which 90% or more of water content is separated. The dewatered impurities are discharged into a solid matter accumulating vessel 7. On the other hand, the sewage, from which impurities are removed, is circulated from a flow rate control vessel 8 into aeration vessels 9W12 vertically suspending a plurality of spongy active sludge beds 15, and aerated with air. As a result, aerobic sludgy coagulating bacteria adhere to bubbles in the sponge, and are incubated and maintained in the bubbles. BOD components in the sewage are oxidized, decomposed and removed by the action of the bacteria. After excess sludge is separated from the treated sewage, the purified water is completely disinfected in a disinfection vessel 20.
