Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance drive frequency without lowering type quality, in an on- demand type ink jet head, by applying plural kinds of drive pulses with different voltage wave forms to an piezo-electric element in a condition synchronous to a type timing signal. CONSTITUTION:By output from an encoder 22 detecting a rotary angle of a carriage moving motor 21, an MPU25 reads out a data from a character generator 26 to sent said data to an I/O port 27. When output of the I/O port 27 is sent to a driver 28A, a pulse 18 for driving ink injection is applied to a piezo-electric element. On the other hand, when an ink is not injected, output of a mono-multivibrator 24 is always applied to a driver 28B and a pulse 19 is added to the piezo-electric element. Because the pulse 19 is slow in raising-up of displacement as compared to the pulse 18, the ink is displaced but not injected. Further, because a drive initial condition after the pulse 19 is applied comes to a similar condition after the pulse 18 is applied, a constant drive initial condition is always obtained.
