Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce uniform ink drops independently of ejection frequency and raise the quality of printing, by determining quantitatively the condition of change at the ink-drops due to the fluctuation of injection frequency and thus implementing the means of compensation thereof. CONSTITUTION:When a head driving instruction is applied from a printing instruction unit 13, the time having elapsed after preceding ejection is detected by a discrimination unit 14 so that a driving pulse corresponding to the time is produced by a driving pulse generator 15. When the ejection time interval is short and corresponds to ejection frequency f2 or vicinity thereof (V denotes the volume of ink drop), a driving pulse of high energy is produced. When the ejection time interval is short and corresponds to other frequency f3 or vicinity thereof, a driving pulse of low energy is produced. A driving force corresponding to the energy of the driving pulse is applied to an on-demand ink jet head 17 by a driver 16. The size of ink drops is thus made uniform.
