Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to follow the charging amount of refuse up to the desired value with good result in spite of the change of the nature of refuse or the like by a method wherein the bulk density of refuse and the descent rate of refuse level per reciprocation of fire grate are calculated and, due to the calculated result, the speed of the fire grate is controlled. CONSTITUTION:The refuse is charged by means of the grab 4 of a refuse crane into a refuse hopper 1 and fed to the fire grate 2 to be dried and burnt thereon. At that time, the bulk density of the charged refuse is calculated by inputting outputs from a refuse weight detector 5, a bottom detector 7, which detects the lowest level of the refuse, and a peak detector 8, which detects the peak value of the refuse level immediately after the charging of the refuse in the hopper 1, in a bulk density calculator 9. Furthermore, the descent rate of the upper surface of the refuse per reciprocation of the fire grate is also calculated in a refuse descent rate calculator 10. The reciprocating period of the fire grate is calculated in a refuse supply speed control device 11 due to the descent rate of refuse, said bulk density and the desired incineration rate GRS. The moving speed of the fire grate 2 is controlled, due to the reciprocating period calculated as mentioned above, through a fire grate drive control device 12.
