Abstract

PURPOSE:To automatically control the throw-in, combustion and incinerated quantity of garbage, by detecting the level of the garbage in a throw-in hopper. CONSTITUTION:The bulk density of the garbage is calculated from the weight 12 of the thrown-in garbage and the volume of the garbage determined by measuring the levels of the garbage before and after the throw-in of the garbage. A quantity of air necessary to burn the garbage is determined on the ground of the bulk density. The quantity of air is controlled in consideration of the lag time 6 taken till the arrival of the garbage at a fire grate 3. The falling velocity of the level of the garbage in the throw-in hopper 2 is measured to control the speed of the fire grate to incinerate a predetermined quantity of the garbage.
