Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate large current equivalent tests of current limiting fuses by using a thyristor as a switching device superposing direct current on alternating current. CONSTITUTION:The electric current I1 from an AC electric power source 1 is supplied to a specimen fuse 6 by closing a switching device 5 which is accurately phase-controlled. At the same time, a gate signal is applied to a thyristor 7, thereby conducting the thyristor 7. Hence, the charging voltage of a capacitor 9 which is a DC electric power source discharges and a direct current I2 flows through the fuse 6. Namely, the current I1+I2 flows through the fuse 6. If at this time both current inclinations are set equal, the current inclinations reverse equally, and therefore this results in that the current I1+I2 of about twice larger current inclinations flows through the fuse 6. In this way, the large current equivalent test of the current limiting fuse is made easy.
