Abstract

PURPOSE: To symmetrically and uniformly supply a mixture into a cylinder through scavenging ports and prevent gas in the cylinder from flowing back to a main scavenging passage, by providing a check valve in the main scavenging passage.
CONSTITUTION: A check valve 7 for causing scavenged gas to flow in one direction is provided in a main passage 2 near a branching point 6 in a scavenging circuit which is composed of the single main passage 2 extending from the lower part of a crankcase 1 and of branched scavenging passages 5, 5' which are branched from the main passage 2 near a cylinder 3 and extend to scavenging ports 4, 4'. Since a new mixture which is supplied through the single check valve 7 is not previously diluted with residual combustion gas produced in the preceding process and is symmetrically and uniformly supplied into the cylinder 3, ignition and combustion are improved.
