Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve combustion in a light load region in particular, by protruding swirl causing guide walls around the exhaust valve port and intake valve ports of the wall of a combustion chamber, dividing an intake passage into a plurality of branch passages and installing a throttle valve and an intake flow controller in each branch passage.
CONSTITUTION: Two intake valve ports 5, 5' and an exhaust valve port 6 are opened into the top of a combustion chamber 4 eccentrically thereto. Swirl causing guide walls 14, 14' shaped as an arc are protruded on the wall of the combustion chamber around the exhaust valve port 6 and the intake valve port 5. Intake branch passages 20, 20' divided from an intake passage 9 are coupled to the intake valve ports 5, 5'. A throttle valve 21 is installed between a carburetor 10 and the divided portions of the passages 20, 20'. The throttle valve 22 is interlocked with another throttle valve 21 through a link mechanism 25 so that the former throttle valve 22 is opened in a heavy load region only. The flowing velocity of a mixture in the combustion chamber 4 is thus appropriately controlled.
