Abstract
PURPOSE:To ensure the stepped response properties regardless of the rise or fall of an input signal, by connecting in series a semiconductor light emitting element that emits the volume of light proportional to the value of the input signal, a semiconductor photodetector and a current limiting resistanc to a power source. CONSTITUTION:The current passed through a resistance 5 and a diode flows to a light emitting element 2 6 as the input signal of an input terminal 4 increases. Thus the volume of emitted light increases, and the detector 3 is set within the range of on-state. Then the current limited by the voltage of a power source 1 and a resistance 7 flows to increase the light volume of the element 2, and the detector 3 is kept at the steady on-state. The current flowing through the element 2 is reduced when no input signal exists with a large value of the resistance 7, and the detector 3 is slightly turned on. If the detector 3 is turned off under such conditions, no light is emitted from the element 2. Thus the detector 3 is kept off.
