Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease an amount of Nox to be formed by keeping the feed rate of the air for combustion above a specified value in a wide range of combustion load, and by sufficiently causing a flame interference.
CONSTITUTION: In order to decrease a combustion load, feed rates of the air for combustion to a main burner 14 and an auxiliary burner 15 are decreased, and at the same time, a feed rate of exhaust gas to the auxiliary burner 15 is increased by increasing the degree of opening of a damper 20 which keeping a mixing ratio of the exhaust gas approximately constant by reducing the degrees of opening of dampers 10, 11, 12 and 21. With such arrangements, the decrease of the flow rate of the air for combustion to the auxiliary burner 15 is prevented, and the flow rate of the air for combustion is always kept above the minimum value. Accordingly, the flame of the auxiliary burner 15 favorably interferes with that of the main burner 14, so that reduction of NOx can be done effectively. As a result, the rate of formation of NOx can be reduced.
