Abstract

PURPOSE: To make mass production of titled magnets of a curved surface shape free from any disturbance in magnetic field orientation characteristic by setting a flat-platelike molding formed by magnetic field pressing of raw material powder on sintering jigs of prescribed curvature and sintering the same under the conditions under which a prescribed amount of a liquid phase is produced.
CONSTITUTION: Known raw material powder having the composition producing a ≥0.1wt% liquid phase during sintering is molded to a flat-platelike molding 14 of which the magnetic field is oriented in the thickness direction by using a magnetic field press. Next, this molding 14 is placed on the curved surface of a sintering jig (mold) 15 having prescribed curvature, and is so set that the orientation of the magnetic field of the molding 14 is approximately perpendicular to the curved surface of the mold 15. It is heated and sintered in that state or a mating mold 15 having the curved surface conforming to the desired curvature is placed on the molding 14 or other weight addition is carried out and the molding is sintered by heating. If the molding is deformed to the desired shape during sintering in this way, the crystal anisotropies owing to magnetic field orientation align to the direction normal to the curved surface and the sintered body of good orientation characteristic is obtained.
