Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the crystallization of glass and to obtain an infrared transmitting path provided with superior transmitting characteristics by adding a small amount of an alkali metallic element except Li to germanium oxide and antimony oxide to form the core part. CONSTITUTION:The core part of an infrared transmitting path is formed by blending 65-95mol% germanium oxide and 5-40mol% antimony oxide with 0.1- 5mol% R2O (R is an alkali metallic element such as Na, K or Cs except Li) and vitrifying the blend by heating. Since the core part is made of novel glass causing crystallization hardly, the transmitting path has superior effects such as less optical transmission loss.
