Abstract

SiO2, Al2O3, alkali metal oxide and B2O3 and of clad glass contg. SiO2, Al2O3, alkali metal oxide and B2O3. CONSTITUTION:The fiber is formed with multicomponent system core glass consisting of, by wt., SiO2 50-70%, (GeO2 may be substd. for 30% or less of the SiO2), Al2O3 0.5-7%, alkali metal oxide 10-23%, CaO 0-10%, B2O3 4-15% and MgO 0-5% and multicomponent system clad glass consisting of, by wt., SiO2 60- 80%, Al2O3 0.5-10%, alkali metal oxide 9-17%, CaO 0-5%, one or more out of ZnO, ZrO2 and TiO2 0-7%, MgO 0-4% and B2O3 10-15%.
