Ni and Cr or Cr, Co and Ni as principal components together with B, Si, Fe and C to the surface of a metallic body and irradiating the powder stuck metallic body with laser beams in a vacuum or an inert atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:Metallic powder contg. Ni and Cr or Cr, Co and Ni as principal components together with B, Si, Fe and C is stuck to the surface of a metallic body. A metallic body coated with a surface layer of an Ni-P alloy, an Ni-B alloy or Cu may be used. By irradiating the powder stuck metallic body with laser beams, the powder is melted to form a wear resistant coat. The preferred laser is high output laser, and CO2 laser is suitable for this method.
