Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a sliding member with highly stabilized seizing and wear resistances by using a hyper-eutectic Si-Al alloy contg. a specified area percentage of proeutectic Si and specifying the thickness of the sliding part. CONSTITUTION:A hyper-eutectic Si-Al alloy is cast while specifying the area percentage of proeutectic Si to 2-8%, and a predetermined part of a body made of steel, cast iron, Al alloy or the like is coated with the alloy in >=50mu thickness by spraying, welding or other method to form a sliding part. Thus, a sliding member is obtd. The body of the member has suitable strength, and the sliding part has superior wear and seizing resistances. This sliding member is applied to the shift fork, etc. of a car gearbox.
