Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress the rise in the internal pressure of a battery, and realize improved rapid discharge of the battery by connecting a temperature detecting element between a negative electrode and an auxiliary electrode which is provided for oxygen gas, and regulating the charge of the battery according to the voltage and current developed between the negative electrode and the auxiliary electrode. CONSTITUTION:A positive plate 1-1, a separator 1-2 and a negative plate 1-3 are rolled so as to form an assembled element 1, which is placed in a case 2, to which the negative electrode 1-3 is connected. After that, the case 2 is hermetically sealed with a lid body 3, to which the positive electrode 1-1 is connected, thereby a storage battery 10 being constituted. An auxiliary electrode 5 wrapped in a separator 4 is installed in the case 2. The electrode 5 is connected to the terminal 6 by means of a lead wire 7. A temperature detecting resistance element 8 such as a thermistor, an end of which is connected to the case 2 and the other end is connected to the terminal 6, is attached to the outer wall of the case 2. The charge current of the battery 10 is regulated by the change in the voltage and current which develop between the auxiliary electrode 5 and the negative electrode 1-3.
