Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the measurement of the pressure of an assembled element immersed in an electrolyte, by placing the element in an electrolyte-resistant sack, pressing the element from outside the sack, pouring the electrolyte into the sack, and measuring the pressure applied to the element. CONSTITUTION:An assembled element 6, which has not undergone any formation, is constituted of positive plates, negative plates and separators. The element 6 is placed in a vinyl sack 5 of appropriate size, and is placed betwen fixed boards 2 and movable walls 4. Following that, the movable wall 4 is pressed against the element 6 by revolving a handle 11, so that a pressure of 20kg/dm<2> is applied to the element 6. Next, a dilute sulfuric acid which has a specific gravity of 1,260 and is heated to 60 deg.C is poured in the vinyl sack 5, and the contact pressure of the wall 4 against the element 6 is detected by means of a strain gage 7.
