Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide the titled pellet excellent in high temp. softening property and capable of lowering a cost of a fuel such as coke or the like when it is used in an iron stock material in a shaft furnace or the like as well as keeping a furnace condition stable comprising containing Mn oxide in a predetermined ratio.
CONSTITUTION: An iron ore sintered pellet contains 0.8W4.0wt% of Mn oxide as an Mn amount. In said sintered pellet, an m.p. of the Mn oxide therein is low, that is, 1,570°C and, because there is no shell formation found in a conventional magnesia containing pellet, slag formation in pellet sintering is promoted smoothly. Therefore, there is no anxiety such that pellet strength is lowered by a residue of a nonslagged substance. Further, as an Mn oxide source used in preparing said pellet, ferruginous manganese ore, ferrorhodochrosite or the like can be shown.
