Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform an electrode current changeover with an extremely inexpensive cost and to eliminate any mutual interference of arc between nearby electrodes, by constituting a bridge type circuit with rectifying diodes and connecting its cathod or anode side to each of two electrodes and the other side to a transformer.

CONSTITUTION: The cathode side of a bridge circuit 7 composed of diodes 7_aW7_d is connected electrodes 11 and 12, and the anode side is to a material to be welded 14. When a switch 3 of single phase AC primary side lines 1 and 2 is closed and the electric current through a transformer 4 becomes a positive half-way at the secondary side line 5, the electric current generates an arc 13' after passing through an element 7_a, a line 8 and the parent material 14, and then, flows to the transformer 4 through the electrodes 11, a line 10, an element 7_c, and a line 6. Moreover, when the line 5 becomes a negative half-wave, the electric current flows from an element 7_b to the transformer 4 through the line 8, the parent material 14, an arc 13, the electrode 12, a line 9, an element 7_d and the line 5. That is to say, the parent material 14 side always becomes the anode and electrodes 11 and 12 side becomes cathode alternately. The electric current flows under this condition and arcs 13 and 13' are generated alternately.
