Abstract
PURPOSE: To remove magnesium in phosphorus ore efficiently, and to obtain high- quality phosphoric acid, by adding conc. sulfuric acid to a washed solution which is obtained by cleaning phosphorus ore with a solution of sulfuric acid in such a way that the concentration of sulfuric acid is made in a specific range, so that magnesium sulfate is precipitated.
CONSTITUTION: Phosphorus ore is cleaned with a solution of sulfuric acid with a concentration ≥30wt%, magnesium component contained in the ore as impurities is eluted selectively while suppressing eluation of phosphorus component, and the resulting material is separated into the purified ore and the washed solution. Conc. sulfuric acid is added to the washed solution so that the concentration of sulfuric acid of the separated washed solution is made 50W70wt%, the precipitate consisting essentially of magnesium sulfate is made to separate out, and the precipitated solid substance is separated from the solution of sulfuric acid. The separated solution of sulfuric acid is used as sulfuric acid for decomposing the above-mentioned purified ore, or utilized as sulfuric acid for cleaning the above-mentioned phosphorus ore. As mentioned above, the utilization of the solubility characteristics of MgO in the solution of sulfuric acid provides high-quality phosphoric acid.
