Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce vibration, noises, etc. of a reversible pump-turbine, by detaching a generator motor from the electric power system at a first, proper predetermined angle of guide vanes, and then shifting operation of the pump- turbine to generating operation while keeping the opening angle of the guide vanes at a second predetermined angle smaller than said first predetermined angle. CONSTITUTION:In shifting operation of a reversible pump-turbine from its pumping operation to generating operation, guide vanes are closed at a proper speed while keeping the generator motor of the pumpturbine in parallel connection with the electric power system, and then the pump-turbine is detached from the electric power system when the opening of the guide venes is reduced to a first predetermired angle (out of the range of opening angle of the guide vanes during operation of the pump-turbine). Thereafter, operation of the pump-turbine is shifted to generating operation while keeping the opening of the guide vanes at a second predetermined angle smaller than said first predetermined angle.
