Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the structure of a water turbine by a method wherein the water turbine is started by operating, in a motor mode, the induction motor of the hydroelectric power generating device wherein the water turbine is directly connected with the induction motor and thereafter the water turbine is watered and the generator is advanced in phase by acceleration and switched over to the operation for generation.
CONSTITUTION: When a switch 28 for starting is switched on at the time of starting, a breaker 14 for a motor is closed and the generator 16 operates as the motor, whereby the water turbine 18 is started. Simultaneously, the inlet valve 20 of the water turbine is opened by an inlet-valve driving motor 22 with the closure of the breaker 14, whereby the water turbine is watered. When the induction generator 16 being operated in a motor mode is accelerated by the water turbine 18 to exceed a synchronous speed, is operated as the original generator 16. When the inlet valve 20 is fully opened, it is operated for generation equivalent to the output of the water turbine. By this constitution, a guide vane for adjusting the quantity of water becomes unrequired for the water turbine 18, whereby the turbine 18 can be simplified.
