Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce pulsations of torque by regenerating current in a smoothing reactor to power supply until the current value immediately before the commutation becomes equal to that immediately after the commutation and firing a thyristor for smoothing reactor current wheeling at an instant when the current value immediately before the commutation coincides with that immediatley after the commutation.
CONSTITUTION: At an instant t1 of start of commutation no gate signal is given to a thyristor S7 for smoothing reactor current wheeling, and energy in a smoothing reactor 4 is regenerated to the power source until the current command immediately after the commutation is coincided. Only at an instant t2 when the current in the smooting reactor 4 is reduced to coincide with the current command after the commutation, a gate signal is given to the reactor wheeling thyristor S7 to suddently reduce current in an induction motor 8 to zero, thys effecting commutation of thyristors S1 to S6 in the inverter 7. With this method sudden increase of current beyond the command value even when a new thyristor in the inverter to be fired is fired immediately after the commutation, so that it is possible to reduce harmonic torque pulsations at the time of the commutation.
