Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the windage loss accompanying the rotation of a rotor as well as to increase the efficiency of utilization of the rotational inertia energy of the flywheel of the subject device by a method wherein the rotor of the generator-motor directly connected to the flywheel is rotated in the same manner as the flywheel under a vacuumed state. CONSTITUTION:In the device with which an energy conversion is performed by connecting the flywheel 10 to the rotor 32 on the generator-motor and by storing and discharging the rotational inertia energy to the flywheel 10, the rotor 32 and the flywheel 10 are formed into a sealed structure using a stat or frame 34 and a sealing frame 30 and the inside of which is maintained under a vacuumed condition. Through these procedures, the efficiency of utilization of the rotational inertia energy, to be stored in the flywheel 10, can be increased because the windage loss generated from the rotation of the rotor is reduced.
