Abstract
PURPOSE: To facilitate the maintenance and management of an acid-washing part, while eliminating the outflow of a waste acid-washing liquid, by arranging a pH- adjusting and dewatering part to add an acid to sludge to be treated and to dewater the sludge, an aerobic fermenting part for the dewatered sludge and an acid-washing part for fermentation gas.
CONSTITUTION: Concentrated sludge is fed through a feed line 1 into a pH- adjusting part 2, where an acid from an acidifying part 15 is fed to the sludge until a value indicated by a pH sensor 21 reaches a fixed level. The pH-adjusted sludge is freeze-thawed at a freeze-thawing part 7, dewatered by a dehydrator 9 and then converted into compost by a fermenting part 11. Exhaust gas generated by the fermentation is introduced into an acid-washing part 15, let flow through a circulating conduit 18, brought into counter-current contact with an acid atomized from an upper nozzle to remove alkaline gaseous components such as ammonia, and then discharged as purified gas from the acid-washing part 15.
