Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate the propagation of unnecessary waves, by providing a sound absorbing material at an ultrasonic wave propagating region of a delay medium. CONSTITUTION:In an ultrasonic wave delay line 11, a delay medium 2 made of glass is constituted with parallel side surfaces 2a and 2b, a side surface 2c orthogonal to them, and a side surface 2d with an 45 deg. angle to the side surface 2b as a square, and input and output transducers 3 and 4 are provided on the side surface 2d. On both the sides of the medium 2, a band-shaped sound absorbing member 12a made of an epoxy resin of W width is fixed in parallel with a path at the right side of the path of a major waves 6g and a band-shaped sound absorbing member 12b of W width is fixed at the center of the paths of the major waves 6a and 6g. Similarly, band-shaped sound absorbing members 12c- 12f of W width respectively are fixed between the major waves, 6a, 6e; 6e, 6c; 6d, 6b and 6d, 6f. The width W is defined as W=lambda/2Xn or 0<W<<lambda/4 (where; lambda is wavelength of ultrasonic waves and n is an integer).
