Abstract
PURPOSE:To attain the miniaturization and a reduction of power consumption for a unified magnetic head for both erasion and recording, by setting a permanent magnet magnetized in the uniaxial direction at the position near a magnetic gap so as to give a magnetic field of the same level as the coercive force of a recording medium of the travelling direction of the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A permanent magnet 10 magnetized in the uniaxial direction 11 is unified with a thin film magnetic head element at the position near the magnetic gap of a reccording medium 3 with the adhesion of glass, resin, etc. The meadium 3 abuts to the end face of the magnet 10 having a distribution of the magnetic charge before it abuts to the magnetic gap. The magnetic field near the end face of the magnet 10 has a considerably large value, and as a result the old signal recorded to the medium 3 in the form of the preceding career is demagnetized by a direct current. Then the recording current can be reduced due to a DC bias effect by selecting properly the positions of a thin film magnetic head element and the magnet 10 respectively.
