Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve recording efficiency although a coil is arranged behind a sliding surface for a magnetic medium, by adequately selecting the wind diameter, arrangement position, etc., of an auxiliary coil.
CONSTITUTION: A main magnetic pole 2 is made of a magnetic thin film having 0.5W3μm thickness (t), and on both or either of the surfaces of it, an auxiliary core 10 having high magnetic permeability is coupled magnetically closely. This auxiliary core 10 is arranged so that its tip is at a distance l from the tip of the main magnetic pole 2 extending to the sliding surface for a magnetic medium. Then, the coil is positioned in front of the auxiliary core 10 as much as pssible so that its tip surface is aligned to the tip of the auxiliary core 10. When the distance from one surface of the main magnetic pole 2 to the internal surface of the coil 4 opposed to it is (a) and the wind thickness of the coil 4 is (b), l is 10W200μm, or practical use range, and (a+b/2)/l is 0.55W2.4.
