Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the demagnetization of a magnetizing signal in a leakage magnetic field by providing a stepwise surface of a size specified by the whole or part of the external edge of the track surface or a sliding or floating surface made of a ferromagnetic material. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head slider 1 is provided with a slider part 3 made of a ferromagnetic material in one body so that it constitutes a part of a magnetic head 2. The slider 1 has stepwise surfaces 5a and 5b at both side ends in parallel to the recording-medium advance direction 13 of two floating surfaces 4a and 4b. A leakage magnetic field 21 having a direction shown by an arrow magnetizes the side ends 6a and 6b of the slider 1. In this constitution, a distance dP from the recording medium surface 12 of the stepwise surfaces 5a and 5b is set to 1mum-100mum, and a width (w) more than several times the distance dP, so that magnetic poles in a leakage magnetic field no more than several oersteds established at the side ends 6a and 6b is too small to demagnetize a magnetization signals written on a recording medium near the magnetic poles.
