Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve an effective power-saving operation of an air conditioner by operating a compressor so as to always ensure a higher enrgy efficiency EER while maximizing the efficiency than would when it runs at the full operation with a capacity control rate of alpha=0, without capacity control. CONSTITUTION:The energy efficiency EER reaches it maximum under the temperature ta of an outside air as the capacity control rate alpha of a compressor goes to alphaMAX. To effect the capacity control of an air compressor according to a load, a compressor is operated at alphaMAX with a capacity control in stead of at alpha and the whole of the air conditioner is turned on or off by an excessive part of the heaing capacity, except for when the capacity control rate is below MAX. This enables the capacity control of the air conditioner at a larger value of EER than would when the air conditioner is on-off controlled without the capacity control of the compressor thereby increasing the power-saving effect.
