Abstract
PURPOSE:To easily control thickness of a covering layer, and to form an abrasion resistant covering being high in its product yield, by filling a space between a surface to be treated of a metallic body and a mold, with metallic powder of abrasion resistance, and heating it in a vacuum, etc. CONSTITUTION:On an inside surface 2 of a metallic body 1 of a cylindrical shape, etc., an Ni-P, Ni-B or Cu layer is formed in advance as necessary. In the proximity of the inside surface 2 of this metallic body 1, a cylindrical mold (core) 3 is placed, and its space 4 is filled with metallic powder mainly consisting of Ni-Cr, and Co-Ni-Cr, and containing B, Si, Fe and C. This metallic body 1 is insert-placed in a vacuum or inert gas atmosphere furnace, is rotated, and is heat-treated by use of a high frequency coil 6, etc. Subsequently, the metallic body 1 is cooled and the mold 3 is detached. According to this method, it is possible to obtain the metallic body 1 which has formed an abrasion resistant covering layer 10 consisting of an alloy of a metallic powder component, or its sintered substance, on the inside surface 2.
