Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the damage of the fiber surface with metal oxide, by passing the fiber immediately after spinning continuously through a molten metal in an inert or reducing atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: A crucible 10 is placed in a melting furnace 14, and a sealing gas 18, 20 is introduced into the furance. Metal 32, is put in the crucible 10 and molten while introducing an inert gas or reducing gas into the furnace 14 through the gas inlet 16 to prevent the formation of the metal oxide, and the fiber 30 is passed immediately after spinning through the molten metal to cover the surface of the fiber with a metal coating layer 32. The damage of the fiber surface and the lowering of the mechanical strength of the fiber can be prevented by this process.
