Abstract

The lower end 23 of the tube 21 is melted with a heating furnace 25, and when the fiber 3 passes through the end 23, a metallic layer is formed on the outside of the fiber 3. Al, Sn or the like having a m.p. lower than the softening point of glass is used as the metallic material.
