Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an oscillator which is low in power consumption and superior in mass-productivity while frequency-adjusted with high precision, by using an MOS semiconductor variable capacity element as the load capacity of a piezoelectric oscillator. CONSTITUTION:An oscillating circuit consists of an amplifier 1, a feedback resistance 2, a piezoelectric oscillator 3, and load capacitors 4 and 5. In this constitution, either or both of the capacitors 4 and 5 are composed of MOS semiconductor variable capacity elements and a shift in oscillation frequency from a desired value due to the variance of the oscillator 2 with respect to manufacture is adjusted by varying the capacities of the elements. Consequently, the adjustment of the oscillation frequency is made by an electric signal, so the control over it is facilitated extremely. Therefore, the precision of the frequency adjustment is improved remarkably and this process is automated by machines. Further, the MOS semiconductor capacity element consumes no electric power, so that an oscillator whose power consumption is low is realized.
