Abstract

PURPOSE:To store information to a backup storage device almost without increasing the processing time, by providing a slave control storage section which independently controls the backup storage device from a main control section and the main control section and a disc storage device. CONSTITUTION:A disc controller 1 makes transmission/reception for data such as various commands, write and read data with a host CPU2, and controls a disc storage device and its backup disc storage device 4. When a main control section 5 of the device 1 makes writting operation, a write data from the CPU2 is stored in a data buffer 7 and various control information is stored in a control buffer 8. When writting is finished for the buffers 7 and 8 from the control section 5, the result is reported to the CPU2. A slave control section 6 picks up data from the buffer 7 according to the control information picked up from the buffer 8 and writes it in the device 4, stores the information being the result of the execution of command of the control section 6 to a control buffer 9 and transmits it to the CPU2 via the control section 5.
