CONSTITUTION:A duplex balanced modulator is constituted with a phase shift circuit PSF and an addition circuit ADD, and burst signals B1 and B2 are formed based on an original subcarrier signal SC given to the circuit PSF and color difference signals Cu and Cv given to balanced modulation circuits BMD1 and BMD2. A variable phase shift circuit VPS is provided at the output side of the addition circuit ADD and the phase difference between the signals B1 and B2 to the signal SC can arbitrarily be adjusted by varying the polarity and amplitude of a control pulse CP applied to the circuit VPS.
