Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the producibility of fine pit pattern formation by employing ultraviolet-ray, electron-beam, or X-ray irradiation, and forming a recording layer of a material which reduces ability in light absorption in the range of visible-ray or near-infrared-ray wavelength. CONSTITUTION:Ultraviolet-ray sensitive organic pigment, such as an aromatic diamine metallic complex, an aromatic dithiol metallic complex, an aliphatic dithiol metallic complex, a mercaptophenol metallic complex, and allyl aluminum salt of the kind, has maximum ability in absorption in a 600-1,200nm visible - near infrared rays range, but irradiation with a recording beam reduces or eliminates the ability in light absorption in said wavelength range. The recording beam is passed through a photomask with a desired pattern to illuminate a disk which has a layer containing said recording material, thus forming a pattern of irregular light absorption in the 600-1,200nm wavelength range.
