Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent generation of knocking, reduce fuel consumption and improve exhaust purifying performance by controlling the ignition timing of an engine so as to be different in operation and nonoperation of a lock-up clutch of a torque converter. CONSTITUTION:When the car speed increases over the car speed determined by a revolution sensor 15 and a throttle opening sensor 16, a lock-up clutch controller 14 transmits a switching output, and a solenoid 18 is operated, and a hydraulic pump 19 applies the compressed oil to the right of a clutch plate 11. While, as a pipe 21 is connected to an oil discharge pipe 22 to discharge oil, a lock-up clutch 9 is connected. At the same time, the output from the lock-up clutch controller 14 is transmitted to a delaying circuit 25, and the ignition timing signal determined by a distributor 23 is transmitted to an ignitor 27 after being delayed by a certain crank angular time of the engine. Thus, the engine 1 is ignited, being delayed by a certain angle in relation to the ignition timing determined by the distributor 23, and knocking of the engine can be prevented.
