Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce feeding loss of the paper, by detecting the size of the original under the transport by means of a microcomputer to compare it with the size of the copy paper, then providing a releasable stop to the transport of the paper with an operator in case the setting of copy paper is not proper. CONSTITUTION:An automatic original feeding device 4 and an operation panel 16 are set on the main body 2 of a copying machine. The device 4 carries a sheet type original 18 to an exposure scanning surface 20 from an original setting part 25 and then discharges the original 18 after an exposure. At the same time, the upper and lower cassettes 6 and 8 are provided to select the proper transfer paper 58. An original size detection switch 10 is provided between the part 25 and the surface 20, and the size of the original is detected under transport by the number of reference pulses during the period of detection. The sizes of the transfer paper of the cassettes 6 and 8 are detected by the read switches 12 and 14. The state of these switches is monitored by a microcomputer. The copying action is discontinued by executing a prescribed program in case the set copy paper is not proper. This stoppage can be released by the operator.
