Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure a highly efficient copying operation, by transporting again the paper which is transported with a delay in matching with the next copying cycle as long as the next paper feed is not started, accordingly removing no usable paper. CONSTITUTION:A feed roller 41 feeds the paper 19 of size A, etc. on a tray 16, etc. which is selected via the 1st timer which is cleared every time the arrival of an original at an exposure point is detected by an original tip sensor 29. The roller 41 is controlled to start the feed of paper. The delay of transport is decided for the paper by the 2nd timer which starts simultaneously with the start of the paper feed and is cleared according to the detection of the paper through a sensor 23. In the normal state, the delay is absorbed via a resist roller 24. In case the next paper feed is not started although the delay is large, the paper is transported again by the roller 24 in the next timing mode via the 1st timer. A jam is decided when the delay is remarkably large. As a result, the usable paper has not to be removed as a jam, and the high efficient copying operation is ensured.
