Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a heat-sensitive recording material free from exfoliation of a color forming layer, blocking or the like as well as from fear of contaminating a recorder, by a method wherein a heat-sensitive color forming layer comprises of a leuco dye and an acidic substance is formed by using a specified binder. CONSTITUTION:A starch-polyvinyl acetate graft copolymer (or a partial saponificate thereof) and a styrene-butadiene base emulsion are combined with each other to be used as a binder. Namely, a dispersion obtained by dispersing a leuco dye (e.g., crystal violet lactone) into water by using a dispersing agent (e.g., hydroxyethylcellulose), a dispersion obtained by dispersing an acidic substance (e.g., bisphenol A) by using a dispersing agent, and said binder are mixed with each other, and a heat-sensitive color-forming layer forming liquid thus obtained is coated on a support and is dried to obtain a heat-sensitive recording material. A diester compound represented by the formula (wherein each of R<1>, R<2> is a 10-30C alkyl group) may be incorporated into the heat-sensitive color forming layer as a pressure coloring preventing agent.
