PURPOSE:To prepare a recording material which enables a high-melting point color developing material to be brought to high sensitivity by the use of a small amount of a sensitizer, by a method wherein, in a heat-sensitive color developing layer of a heat-sensitive recording material, a given 4-methoxyphenyl benzoate type compound is contained as a sensitizer. CONSTITUTION:Coating liquid is prepared by mixing 7-15wt% a leuco dyestuff, such as a colorless or light-colored triphenylmethane series dyestuff, a fluoran series dyestuff, 20-40wt% an acid material, such as a phenol material, organic acid, 12-35wt% a 4-methoxyphenyl benzoate type compound represented by a formula, where R<1> is hydrogen, a low-grade alkyl group of C1-4, a low-grade alkoxy group of C1-4, or halogen, a binder, such as polyvinyl alcohol, and other additives. The coating liquid is applied on a supporter to prepared a heat-sensitive recording material.
