CONSTITUTION:In a heat sensitive recording material having a colorless or pale leuco dye[e.g., 3,3-bis(p-dimethylaminophenyl)-phthalide, etc.]and an acidic substance coloring the leuco dye at heating time (e.g., oxalic acid, etc.) or phenylic compound (e.g., bis-phenyl A, etc.), an intermediate layer having a compound represented by the formulaI, where R1 represents 1-30C alkyl group (e.g., compound represented by formula II) and aqueous soluble resin (e.g., PVA, etc.) is provided. This material has no adhesion of scum to a thermal element such as thermal head and no sticking phenomenon, and excellent heat sensitive characteristic for high speed and density picture information without pressure coloring phenomenon can be obtained.
