PURPOSE:To provide a heat-sensitive recording material excellent in a preventive effect against pressure coloring, by a method wherein a protective layer containing a specified cyclohexane diester compound is provided on a heat-sensitive color-forming layer containing a leuco dye and an acidic substance. CONSTITUTION:A composition containing a leuco dye and an acidic substance for developing a color by reacting with the leuco dye under heating is coated on a base such as paper to produce a heat-sensitive color-forming layer. Then, a protective layer which contains a diester compound of the formula (where each of R<1> and R<2> is 10-30 C alkyl)[for example, 4,5-epoxy-1,2-bis(stearyloxycarbonyl)cyclohexane]is provided on the color-forming layer to obtain the objective heat-sensitive recording material.
