Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the corrosion preventing effect of the resulting anticorrosive for metal and to remove a fear for environmental pollution by adding polymaleic acid or a salt thereof and a sarosine compound or a salt thereof as effective components. CONSTITUTION:This anticorrosive for metal contains polymaleic acid or a salt thereof and a sarosine compound or a salt thereof represented by formulaI (where R is 8-22 C hydrocarbon) as effective components. This anticorrosive is used to prevent the corrosion of metal contacting with water, e.g., ferrous metal. Since this anticorrosive contains both of said components, the formation of scale is extremely inhibited, and a superior corrosion preventing effect is shown by this anticorrosive used ina smaller amount than the amount of an anticorrosive contg. only a sarcosine compound. By combining said components with aliphatic hydroxycarboxylic acid, the corrosion preventing effect can be enhanced furthermore.
