Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively protect iron materials in contact with water from corrosion by supplying a corrosion inhibitor, containing aluminium nitrate, aluminium choloride, aluminium sulfate, or their double salts or aluminium polynuclear complexes, as effective component, into water. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution, containing 5 to 50 ppm in term of aluminium of aluminium nitrate, aluminium chloride, aluminium slulfate, or their double salts or aluminium polynuclear complexes derived from these aluminium compounds, the pH of which is regulated to 3.5 to 5.5, is brought into cntact with iron or iron alloy tubes, parts, etc.. Since the inhibitor is free of toxicity in mankind, animals, and vegetables and also exhibits a great anticorrosive capability for iron parts in a fluid state, thus preventing the iron parts from scaling and pitting.
