Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain an Al-Sn alloy for a bearing with enhanced fatigue and seizing resistances at high temp. and a bearing device by adding a specified amount each of Cr and Mn, Sb, Ti, Ni, Fe, Zr, Mo or Co to an Al-Sn alloy and press- welding a backing steel strip to the resulting alloy.
CONSTITUTION: A backing steel strip is press-welded to an alloy for a bearing consisting of, by weight, 3.5W35% Sn, 0.1W1.0% Cr, 1W10% of ≥1 kind of element selected from Mn, Sb, Ti, Ni, Fe, Zr, Mo and Co, and the balance essentially Al or further contg. ≤3.0% Cu and Mg to obtain a composite Al-Sn alloy material. A bearing device for an internal combustion engine, etc. is formed with the composite Al-Sn alloy material. Since precipitates formed by the added elements are dispersed in the Al matrix of the alloy, the alloy has an efect of trimming off the polishing burr of a nodular graphite cast iron shaft, and the precipitates cause hardly migrating and aggregating phebomena in the alloy. Accordingly, a stable oil film is formed to enhance the wear resistance.
