PURPOSE:To obtain a mechanical-electrical converter which is free of creeping, can be easily deformed into various types, and has higher sensibility by adding a strain gauge element to a super-strain member made of a brittled material of a high resistance. CONSTITUTION:A gauge element 8, e.g., bulk semiconductor strain gauge, foil strain gauge, etc., is bonded to a strained member 6 of a high resistance, e.g., of glass, ceramic, etc., with the aid of an adhesive. By this, the occurrence of creeping in the strained member 6 itself can be eliminated. For example, in a diaphragm type pressure converter, a strain gauge consisting of a gauge element 8A composed of bulk semiconductor strain gauge and the strained member 6A is confined in a case consisting of a body case 11 and a pressure inlet portion 9, and pressure is converted into electrical resistance. In this way, the mechanical- electrical converter can be easily deformed into various types with high sensibilities.
