Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a single-layer sleeve, a composite sleeve and a composite roll for rolling each having an outer surface with desired hardness and wear resistance by centrifugally casting a high-W alloy having a specified composition.
CONSTITUTION: A single-layer sleeve is obtd. by centrifugally casting an alloy consisting of, by weight, 2.5W4.0% C, 1.0W2.5% Si, 0.5W1.5% Mn, ≤0.1% P, ≤0.1% S, 3.5W5.0% Ni, 1.0W2.0% Cr, 0.2W1.5% Mo, 10W25% W and the balance essentially Fe. An inner layer made of high grade cast iron or ductile cast iron is formed by centrifugal casting and united with the single-layer sleeve as an outer layer by melt bonding to obtain a composite sleeve and a composite roll. Since the single-layer sleeve, the composite sleeve and the composite roll have Hs 80W95° outer surface hardness and high wear resistance, the performance and life of such a roll for rolling are improved.
